A coin is small enough to overlook, yet its manufacture connects design with a large industrial process. The Denver Mint's free guided tour introduces that connection, explaining the facility's history and the production of circulating coins.
The current booking process is online. In-person tickets are no longer available, and individual reservations can be made up to thirty days ahead, with new bookings released at 1 a.m. Denver local time. Requests are limited to five tickets per person and email, and every visitor must be at least seven years old.
Tours normally run Monday–Thursday, excluding observed federal holidays, with several departures listed on the reservation page. Allow about an hour and use the exact time on your confirmation. The Mint cautions that tours can be cancelled and that coins may not be in production during a visit, so the historical and process explanations remain part of the experience.
Arrive at the Cherokee Street tour entrance with the printed or mobile confirmation and review the full visitor and security requirements before leaving. Late arrivals are not admitted. Larger school and civic groups use a separate request process. A little preparation lets the visit focus on the surprising amount of work behind an object that usually sits unnoticed in a pocket.
